Home Assistant guide

Home Assistant guide

This is the guides-zone entry. Screenshots and the longer walkthrough stay on Home Assistant integration.

Scope

After you add the open-source Imou Life integration, you can live-view, control, and read status for Imou video devices under your developer account, and extend the component. It does not replace SaaS / Web / dashboard guides.

This book does not pin a Home Assistant Core version.

Prerequisites

  • A running Home Assistant instance. Official install: home-assistant.io/installation.
  • An overseas developer AppId and AppSecret.
  • The API domain of your data center (openapi-[DataCenter].easy4ip.com). See Development specification §1.

Install Home Assistant

  1. Deploy Home Assistant using the official guide above.
  2. Open the UI in a browser and create an account.

Install the Imou custom component

Get the package from either:

  • GitHub: Imou-OpenPlatform/Imou-Home-Assistant
  • Downloads — row Imou Home Assistant Component (updated 2025-04-01, resourceType=ImouHomeAssistantComponent)

Unzip and copy custom_components/imou into your Home Assistant config directory under custom_components/imou.

Configure credentials

  1. Settings → Devices & services → Integrations.
  2. Add integration, search Imou, select Imou Life.
  3. Enter AppId and AppSecret from Console · App information.
  4. Choose the API domain that matches your data center. Use the easy4ip hosts in Development specification §1.

Verify entities

Open Imou Life in the integration list. You should see devices under the developer account. Extend features from the GitHub repository.

Update or uninstall

This book does not document an official uninstall wizard or a required Core version.

  • Update: replace custom_components/imou with the folder from the current Downloads hash or the GitHub tree you trust, then reload integrations.
  • Uninstall: remove the Imou Life integration in the UI, then delete custom_components/imou.
